Theo E. Wayment, 82, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2006, after a valiant fight for survival at the McKay-Dee Hospital, Ogden.
Theo was born March 18, 1924, in Ogden, Utah, the son of Theodore Wayment and Hazel Caroline East.
He married Shirley Schaer October 22, 1946, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Theo was a resident of Ogden, Utah for 38 years. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged as Seaman First Class April 1946 from Oakland, California. He went on to work for the Ogden City Rail Road, the old Thomas Dee Hospital then completed a career as an Aircraft Mechanic at Hill Air Force Base from where he retired.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in which he served as a temple worker and fulfilled many various callings including two LDS Stake mission calls – one of which he served as a counselor in the Lorin Farr Stake Mission Presidency. He enjoyed working closely with the young missionaries and had a great love of this work.
Theo had a great love for the aircraft he worked on at Hill Air Force Base; for camping, fishing, and especially for all the animals both domestic and in the wild. He was a farmer at heart and found great joy in growing his gardens and working on the family farm in Warren, Utah.
Surviving are wife Shirley Schaer; daughters Karen W. Allred (Larry) of West Point, Patricia W. Cunningham Hensely of West Jordan, Janet W. Tetlow (Mark) of Monroe, North Carolina; his sister Dianne W. Bullock (Carl) of North Ogden; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
