Married Bernice Mary Hammer 4 Dec 1944

Died 21 October 2007 Manila, Daggett, Utah
Buried Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, South Ogden, Weber, Utah
Obituary:
Ivan “Ike” East 2-27-21 ~ 10-21-07 “Gone Fishin” MANILA, Utah – Ivan “Ike” East left this world to be with his beloved wife Bernice, on Sunday, October 21, 2007. He left behind many friends and family members who will miss his independent spirit and sense of humor. Ike was born February 27, 1921 to Thomas and Cora Wright East, the fifth child of eight. Ike served with the Civilian Conservation Corp during his late teens and served honorably with the U.S. Army during World War II. After returning home from the war, he married the love of his life, Bernice Hammer, on December 4, 1944. Following many years of civil service at Hill Air Force Base, Ike and Bernice moved to Manila, Utah in 1971. Ike always
called it “God’s Country”. They spent many happy years together and remained active after retirement fishing at Flaming Gorge and traveling during the winter months. Ike and Bernice loved their time with dear friends at the Eagles Trailer Park and Lodge east of Ogden Canyon. Ike and Bernice were always together and when Bernice passed away on December 31, 1988, a part of Ike went with her. Ike is survived by his brother, Alfred G. East, and his sister, Margaret E. Neely. Ike was fortunate to have a true friend in Frank Brown, a fellow Eagle member. Ike thought of Frank as a son and we know Frank thought of Ike as a father. We thank Frank from our hearts for all he did for Ike, especially the past few weeks. Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters and two brothers. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, where Military Honors will be accorded. Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Email condolences to the family at: www.lindquistmortuary.com

Born 24 Feb 1928 Ogden, Weber, Utah
Married Marybelle Travis 21 July 1949
Children: Judy, Janet
Died 22 March 2011 Utah
Buried:  Cremation - location of ashes unknown
Obit:
Surrounded by his loving family from complications of Alzheimer's. He was born February 24, 1928 to Thomas Alfred East and Cora Ann Wright East. He was the youngest of 8 children. He grew up most of his life in the Ogden area.
He married Marybelle Travis on July 21, 1949. They had two children Judy East Dockstader and Janet East.
He worked for HAFB as a mechanic, but he was a "jack of all trades". He retired in 1971, where he then was able to travel with his wife and friends.
His passion in life was his family. He loved his wife, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. Also his passion was his home. He always made such a beautiful home for all of us. He loved yard work and it showed. His yard was immaculate, and made a beautiful place for us to live. He was there for us no matter what the project was.
We went on several family vacations and the memories will always be a treasure. He would always map out the route to make sure we could see everything possible, and made sure every hotel had a pool, that was the only thing the grandkids asked for.
He is survived his wife Marybelle East, daughter Judy East Dockstader, Janet East and 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and sister Marge East Neely. He was preceded in death by his 6 of his siblings : Melvin East, Gwen East Wheeler, Dortha East Price, Thelma East Hunt, Ivan East, Gage East and a great granddaughter Kaylene Peterson.
We would like you to celebrate his life with us at a Memorial service at Leavitt's Mortuary on Wednesday, March 30th, at 11 am. Friends and family are invited to share memories with the family one hour prior.
We would like to thank the staff at Mountain View Nursing Services and Inspiration Hospice for their kind and loving care.
Cremation will be under the direction of Leavitt's Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers we would like you to donate to the Utah Chapter of Alzheimer's.

Thomas Turney 1678-1761 Abigail Wells 1687

From Wikipedia:  On the morning of July 7, 1779, approximately 2,000 enemy troops landed on Fairfield Beach near Pine Creek Point and proceeded to invade the town. When they left the following evening, the entire town lay in ruins, burned to the ground as punishment for Fairfield's support of the rebel cause. Ten years later, President George Washington noted after traveling through Fairfield that "the destructive evidences of British cruelty are yet visible both in Norwalk and Fairfield; as there are the chimneys of many burnt houses standing in them yet.

So, when researching this family, remember some of them lived to see the Revolutionary War.  Keep in mind where they were or might have been during the turmoil and what information you might find in the military and town records.
