Ebenezer is supposedly married to Abigail (Family Group Sheet) and had all of these children. However, another source claims he was married to Elizabeth Jenkins. I can't find a thing on Abigail, but I found an Ebenezer's and an Elizabeth's gravestones in the East Wales Cemetery AND a record of the marriage. Perhaps Abigail was his first marriage? This desperately needs clarification.

THE Narraguagus Valley; EARLY SETTLEMENT AND SETTLERS
BY J. A. MILLIKEN_AOS/1 Jan. 2014
John Small, born about 1790, son of Ebeneezer Small[Sr.] removed to Bucksport, Maine, with his brother Ebenezer Small Jr.
They are both found at Bucksport, in the 1830 Census, and 1840 Census.
John Small's eldest son, Jeremiah Small, was born about 1825, Cherryfield, youngest son, Samuel D. Small, was born about 1838 at Bucksport.
Noted: The place of birth for Jeremiah and Daniel Small are from their Civil War Records.
Another son of John Small resided at Swanville 1850, age 21, Lorenzo Small born about 1829, possibly Bucksport. Maine.
The family of John Small removed to Swanville, Maine, prior to the 1850 Swanville Census. They removed to the Oak Hill section of Swanville, the north west corner of the town.
In the 1850 Swanville Census, John Small's wife is Elizabeth age 45, his age given as 50? is in question. [Samuel D. Small, age 12 in household 1850.]
In 1860 Swanville Census he is age 70, in household of son Jeremiah Small of Swanville.
The following death notice maybe John Small of Oak Hill, Swanville, Maine:
I have used it for his death info.
Republican Journal_Belfast, Maine_26 Feb 1874.
In Swanville---John Small, Feb. 17, age 84. _ AOS_4 June 2010
This agrees with probable birth in 1790.

Thank you. The Small-Giberson line is my husband's direct line. I am very familiar (and use) the Family Search website. His brother is the person who does most the research on the line. I only dabble in it from time to time.
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to trace back John Small, born 1790 for over twenty years.
Your posting here was the first indicator that the statement in THE Narraguagus Valley; EARLY SETTLEMENT AND SETTLERS, BY J. A. MILLIKEN, might be a real clue.
Thanks for the reply.
Adrian
PS my mother's line was the Smalls and Larrabees of Swanville
