Dena Opheikens |
Born 25 Jan 1925 Ogden, Weber, Utah
Married (Jack) Gerald Wood Price 13 Dec 1942 Pocatello, Bannock, Idaho
Children: Sharon, Della, the rest are living
Died 14 Dec 2009 Crestwood Care Center, Ogden, Weber, Utah
Buried: Washington Heights Memorial Park, Washington Terrace, Weber, Utah
OBITUARY
WASHINGTON TERRACE – Dena O. Price, 84, died Monday, December 14, 2009, at Crestwood Care Center in Ogden.
Mom was born January 25, 1925, in Ogden, to Jacob and Della Walters Opheikens. She married Jack G. Price on December 13, 1942, in Pocatello, ID. Dad passed away on October 12, 2004, just two months before their 62nd wedding anniversary. They lived in Ogden later moving to Washington Terrace, where they lived for over 52 years.
Mom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Mom loved animals, especially horses, and started a lifetime collection of horses that began as a young girl. Mom's other hobbies included reading, quilting, camping, yard sales, and baking cakes for every occasion. Mom loved taking care of others, especially her grandchildren. Mom and Dad had grandchildren over nearly every day and always had a grandchild or great-grandchild with them wherever they went. Mom and Dad took care of everyone and were always there without being asked. They cared for both grandma and grandpa for many years throughout their illnesses and until their passing.
Survivors include daughters, Diana Price, Ogden; Annette Ansley, Roy; Judy Schatz, West Haven; and son, Jack R. Price, Washington Terrace. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Jayne Maynard and Violet Opheikens, and nieces and nephews also survive her.
Her husband, Jack, daughters, Sharon Price and Della Huddle, one grandson, one great-grandson, her parents, four brothers, and two sisters preceded Mom in death.
We wish to thank friends and neighbors, and we also thank the caregivers who helped us with our mother during her illnesses. Mom had a keen sense of humor and was strong, stubborn, and feisty, which helped her to cope with the losses of Dad, Sharon, and Della, and to fight the many medical battles in her later years. We know that she is now free from the pain and with her loved ones again.
We love you Mom and will miss you until the day that we are all together again. Private services were held under the direction of Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary
