Birth about 1609 Norfolk, England
Occupation: Millwright 

Thomas Kirby immigrated from England to Virginia in 1634 aboard either the 'Revenge' or the 'James'. The ships sailed together and arrived together. It is not clear which ship he actually sailed in. 

He served an indenture to pay his passage. He was a skilled millwright and built many grist mills in the new colony. Once his indenture was completed he acquired over 500 acres of land and became a prosperous planter, although he continued his occupation of being a millwright.

To my son Robert, my whole seat of land. If he dies under age without heirs, and his mother, my wife Mary, survives him, (note: she did not survive her son) then it goes to her. Also Robert, my negro man George, 6 cows, 3 bull calves, 4 steers, one mare with foal, bed with furniture, 2 iron potts, 1 pestell, 3 pewter dishes, 1 axe, 2 hoes, and 1 new saddle and bridle. Wife to be executrix.
