Note to self: why did they not punish the liars?
Buried Burying Point Cemetery, Salem, Essex, Massachusetts

Reverend George Burroughs' memorial
Note: this is only a memorial. He is not buried here.
It was placed here to memorialize him as a victim of the Salem Witch Trials.
In fact, his burial was rather primitive. according to Wikipedia:
"...
when he [Mr. Burroughs] was cut down, he was dragged by a halter to a hole, or grave, between the rocks, about two feet deep; his shirt and breeches being pulled off, and an old pair of trousers of one executed put on his lower parts: he was so put in, together with (John)Willard and (Martha)Carrier, that one of his hands, and his chin, and a foot of one of them, was left uncovered."
There is another version: according to
Perley, Sidney, 1858-1928. The History of Salem, Massachusetts. Salem, Mass.: S. Perley, 192428. Volume III, page 287
He states that: Sidney Perley was the first to suggest Proctor’s Ledge, writing in 1921 that the hangings took place at this “rocky outcrop.”

[The Gallows Hill Project]
"To identify the site, the researchers combed through maps, court documents and other primary sources, hoping to determine the location of “the house below the hill.” That phrase, discovered among nearly 1,000 pages of court records by researcher Marilynne Roach, was uttered by 51-year-old accused witch REBECCA EAMES during her preliminary examination on Aug. 19, 1692. The magistrate asked if she had witnessed the five executions that occurred earlier that day and EAMES responded that she was at “the house below the hill” when she saw the executions."

He was a member of the Fox Family of Great Missenden Parish in Bucks County, England, whose coat of arms appears on the memorial tablet to Henry Fox.

Margaret Thomas
Born abt 1628 England
Note: Did not find her in the Stepney Parish and I'm beginning to doubt her birth year since she would have been in her 40's and just beginning to have children.  She may have been significantly younger than her husband. The other possibility is that these children belong to Anne and John instead of Margaret and John.

NOTE: Joseph was a loyalist (was 'loyal' to the British crown). It is my feeling that due to that fact, he moved from New York to New Brunswick between 1775 and 1778.

Mary Ebbett

Born 13 January 1778 Gagetown, Queens, New Brunswick, Canada
Married David Coy 26 Feb 1801 Gagetown, New Brunswick, Canada

Died 29 Jan 1868 Gagetown, New Brunswick, Canada

David and Mary's newer headstone
Her death day is hard to see.
The best that I could do was 29 Jan.
Findagrave had 2 Jan, but I can see
there was more to it than that. I have
suggested 29 to the person that maintains it.
