Daniel Small 1674 Abigail Snow 1673

The surname has been written several ways: Smalley, Smole, and Small for example.
Daniel Small

findagrave had the following information:  The American Genealogist page 137
"Abigail Snow Probable Wife of Daniel Small of Truro and Provincetown, Massachusetts"
By Steven Edward Sullivan, M.A.
Page 137

"In this article I will articulate the theories, arguments, and lines of evidence that collectively suggest the probability that Abigail Snow (born at Eastham, Massachusetts, on 14 October 1673, daughter of John and Mary (Smalley) Snow) [1] married Daniel Small, son of Francis Small (Edward) and his wife Elizabeth (__) of Sturgeon Creek, and Kittery, Maine, and of Truro, Cape Cod. .. If this hypothesis is correct, the many thousand descendants of Daniel Small could claim descent from Mayflower passenger Stephen Hopkins, whose daughter Constance (Hopkins) Snow was paternal grandmother of Abigail Snow.

"While the names of Daniel Small's children are revealed by deeds and baptismal records, the name of his wife (or wives) is entirely unknown. Lora A. W. Underhill concluded her sketch of Daniel Small by noting that 'the name of his wife does not appear in any existing records,' and in her discussion of Daniel's son Isaac she further observed that 'there is absolutely no trace of Daniel's wife, or wives.'  My own investigation confirms that apparently no record now exists that identifies the name of Daniel Small's wife. Convention records and sources are lacking or woefully inadequate at best, and traditional methods and techniques of genealogical research fail to whisper even a clue as to her identity. A variety of less conventional records and sources and less traditional methods and techniques had to be utilized in order to construct this interesting, plausible, and provocative hypothesis.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT DANIEL: I saw on Family Search in the Life Sketch section that he was supposedly captured by American Indians. The source cited was: Descendants of Edward Small Vol I,  by Laura Woodbury Underhall who, in turn, cited the book, "Trouble with the Indians" by John Foster.  This is what I discovered: The book "Trouble with Indians" was published in 1677 and THIS Daniel wasn't born until over 50 years later.  In addition, the author, William Hubbard died in 1704 - decades before this Daniel Small was born. In addition, John Foster is the publisher, not the author.  Therefore, I conclude, that this man was not the Daniel that was captured by Indians and held prisoner.
