Wikipedia for the map of Cambridgeshire and where Whaddon is on it

Whaddon is an old Celtic word meaning "Wheat Hill". Whaddon stands 429 feet above sea level and was once surrounded by dense forest, the Whaddon Chase, which gives its name to the local Hunt. There is evidence that Whaddon was inhabited in pre-historic times – a flint skin-scraper was uncovered near the church. Ancient British and Roman coins have also been found, and the site of a Roman camp is nearby.

St Mary's Church in
Whaddon, Cambridge, England
where the East family worshipped

From Wikipedia: The parish church of St Mary consists of a chancel, five-bay aisled and clerestoried nave, south porch, and west tower. The chancel is the oldest part of the present building, dating from the end of the 13th century. The nave and tower were added in the late 14th century

29 November 1840 Whaddon, Cambridgeshire, England
Children: Joseph, Daniel, David, Mary, Ann, Unnamed girl

Marriage record

Died 16 July 1854
Whaddon, Cambridge, England

From Family Search (shared by Jayna L.C. Haws, and modified here by me)
Ann Reed was the fifth child and second daughter in a family of six children— Tragedy struck the Reed home when Ann was two-years-old.
She slipped into a deep ditch that ran near their home. No one else was around but her mother, Sarah. Though heavy with child, she jumped into the ditch to save Ann from drowning.

Ann was saved, but trouble started for her mother. Her child, a girl, was born July 13, 1854 and died the same day. Complications developed and Sarah died three days later, July 16, 1854.

Buried with her newborn baby girl: 16 July 1854 Whaddon, Cambridge, England

Sarah's burial record

Note: One must remember the baby had been born and died the same day, so she remained unburied for three days. They needed to bury the dead quickly in July (no refrigeration), so it was about common sense, not insensitivity about how quickly Sarah was buried.

Hannah East
Born 24 Aug 1828 Whaddon, Cambridgeshire, England
Christening 21 Sep 1828 Whaddon, Cambridge, England

Hannah's christening record. She is about a month old.

Married Thomas Karren 17 March 1865 Lehi, Utah, Utah Territory
Children: Hannah, Annie, William
Died 2 May 1907 Lehi, Utah, Utah Territory

There is a problem with the death certificate.
She was not born in 1830 - her christening year was 1828.
Henry East is her nephew, son of her brother, George, and he was a Police
Officer in Provo at the time of her death. He may have not known the truth
or he may have been given bad information. Either way, this affected the dates
on this official document and on her headstone.

Buried 4 May 1907 Lehi, Utah, Utah

Hannah's headstone
It gives the wrong birth year AND the wrong death year -
look at the death certificate which claims 1907, which I do believe
is correct.
