Will of Anthony Alexander Jr. 1758

In the name of God amen: The tenth day of February in the year of our Lord 1758 I Anthoney Alexander of North Carolina in Tyrrel County gentleman being very sick and weak in body but of perfict mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christain like decent manner at the durection of my Executors not doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give devise and despose of the same in the following manner and form.

First - I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Anthoney Alexander the manner plantation and the land belonging thereto not turning the two single girls Elizabeth and Sarah out of the house as long as they list to keepe house and live single not taking form them the ax or hooes and all the rest of my lands and tennements where ever to be found I give to my son Anthoney Likewise I give and bequeath to my son Anthoney all my carpenters tools Coopers tools and showmakers tools and my great Connow and sales and one hand mill.
Item - I give to my grandson Anthoney Alexander my hunting gun.
Item - I give to my daughters Elizabeth and Sarah my small Connow.
Item - I give to my daughter Elizabeth one beed and furniture and one linen wheele.
Item - I give to my daughter Sarah one beed and furniture and one iron pot & pot hooks.
Item - I give to my daughter Mary Jennet (this could be her married surname rather than middle name) one iron pot and pot hooks and one iron tramel.
Item - I give to my daughter Sarah one linen wheele and one cow yearling and one mair.
Item - I give to my daughter Ann hoe one shillin.
Item - I give and bequeath all the rest of my house hold goods and chattells to my daughters Elizabeth and Mary and Sarah Ester(first time he gives her middle name) to be eaqually divided by two free holders this being my last Will and Testament I witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
